The Texas Skyward User Group (TSUG) Scholarship is open to seniors who are planning to go to a university, college or technical school next year. The application must be postmarked by April 13, 2012. -The North Cypress Junior Volunteer Program is a 3-week commitment for high school students between the ages of 14-18 years. The program offers the opportunity for students to volunteer in a hospital environment and learn the skills needed to succeed in the workplace, as well as acquire volunteer hours. The deadline to apply is April 6th. -Camp College is a four-day college application and financial aid “boot camp” for rising college-bound juniors and seniors which will take place at Texas Christian University on June 3-6. There is no cost and free transportation will be provided from Houston. The deadline to apply is April 20th. -LSC-Tomball Honors Program is having an Honors Essay Contest for seniors planning on attending Lone Star College-Tomball. The prize will be a $1000 scholarship to LSC-Tomball. The deadline to participate is February 29th. -The WISH Project offers a one-of-a-kind experience for female high school juniors interested in a career in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). WISH starts with an online community and culminates with a summer experience at a NASA Center. The deadline to apply is February 22nd. - Girl Genius STEM Conference on March 24th at TSTC in Waco. A conference to nurture girls' interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Girls will attend 4 innovative workshops presented by TSTC-Waco. Open for girls in grades 6-12. Cost is $20 and scholarships are available. You do not have to be a Girl Scout to attend this event. - Texas A&M SLOT Conference- The SLOT Conference is hosted by the Aggie Leaders of Tomorrow and is open to all juniors and seniors interested in learning new leadership skills and embracing new opportunities at Texas A&M. The total cost of the conference is $75, which includes food and housing. This year's conference will be held March 23-25, 2012 and the deadline to register is February 24th. -The QuestBridge College Prep Scholarship provides opportunities designed to help oustanding low-income high school juniors prepare to apply to top colleges. Includes scholarships for summer programs, invitations to conferences, all-expense-paid campus visits, and college admissions counseling. Juniors with strong academic records and a family income of less than $60,000 are eligible to apply before March 27th. -Summer program information that has come across my desk: Camp on the Coast, Emory Pre-College Program, Junior State of America Institute, SFA High School Summer Theatre Workshop, Summer in New York City, Summer Math Camps and Programs, Summer Pre-Dental Enrichment Program, Texas A&M- Corpus Christi Young Authors' Writing Camp, Texas Quiz Bowl Alliance, Texas Summer Camps, University of Texas at Austin Camps and Events, Vanderbilt Summer Academy, and Youth Adventure Program. WHS Local Scholarship Booklet The WHS Local Scholarship Booklet is now available! The booklet was passed out February 15th to all seniors during their English IV class. If you are a senior and do not have an English IV class, please stop by the CCC to pick up your copy. The scholarship applications are available in the Local Scholarships File below. Good luck!
Just posted!Check out the links that were recently added: -Class of 2012 Senior Calendar: Lists the dates and deadlines for the Class of 2012. -Dual Credit Scholarship: Scholarship application for 10th and 11th grade students planning on taking Dual Credit classes next year. -Hamman Foundation Scholarship Application: A $16,000 scholarship for seniors who are US citizens. Scholarship is based on "financial need" and "scholastic ability". The deadline to apply is February 24, 2012. -Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Metropolitan & Opportunity Scholarship Applications: $16,000 scholarships for seniors who are US Citizens, have a SAT score of at least 1210 or an ACT score of at least 17, be ranked in the top half, and have applied to a college/university/tech school. The deadline to apply is March 4, 2012. -PDK Scholarship Application: A scholarship for seniors that are prospective educators. The deadline to apply is March 1, 2012. -San Bernard Youth Tour Link: San Bernard is holding an essay contest for area high school students and will award 2 expense paid trips to Washington, D.C. Students must be in the 10th or 11th grade and parents must be a current member of the San Bernard Electric Cooperative.
